Do I need a referral to start physical therapy in Utah?
No. Utah allows direct access, so you can begin physical therapy without a physician referral. Some insurance plans may still require a referral to cover treatment, so it is worth checking your specific plan.
How long is each visit?
Most visits run 45 to 60 minutes of one-on-one time with your Doctor of Physical Therapy. Your first visit includes a full evaluation.
Will physical therapy help me avoid surgery?
For many back, knee and shoulder problems, physical therapy is an effective first option. We will give you an honest assessment and coordinate with your physician when surgery is the better path.
What should I wear?
Comfortable clothing you can move in. For a knee, bring shorts; for a shoulder, a tank top or loose shirt helps.
